Presbyornis sculpture

1:1 scale. Year 2014.

Skeleton: Polystyrene, cardboard and adhesive tape.

Muscles: handmade papier mâché clay.

Eyes, upper and down tips of the bill and claws: hand made cold porcelain.

Teeth: sculpey.

Tongue spines: thorns from a certain species of palm tree.

Leather like skin of the upper part of bill: latex.

Feathers: Paper feathers painted with felt pens and feathers sculpted in commercial papier mâché clay.

Colors: Acrylics plus a wash with oil colors and several coats of varnish.
